Winding Winter March

I recorded this a long time ago, but since the song I'm trying to upload won't work unless it's on YouTube, here's this in the meantime. :D

  1. Ben, this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Did you do it with a piano programme, or actually record yourself playing it? Either way, magnificente! I've listened to it three or four times already just tonight! It really sounds like a winter march: the continuous symphony of the snow drifting gently, then whirling about in whirlwinds of splendour. See? You've got me writing a paragraph about a snow fall I haven't even seen! :D :D
You've got to do more of this, chap!

  2. Thanks! I actually did it with Garage Band, which means I took my MIDI piano and hooked it up to my computer and then recorded an editable file, so that I could totally change the sound and even the note placement of the piece. So it was with a piano programme (LOL, British spelling), but I had to hit each key so it would make sound on the computer. :D
Ha-ha! Least it wasn't like play-it-once-and-then-never-listen-to-it-again. Glad to hear you listened to it so many times!
LOL, nice description! :D I should attach that to the YouTube video.

I actually HAVE done more of this, LOL; I just haven't uploaded it yet!

    Thanks for commenting!

  3. Well, it's really good stuff, chap! As I was listening to it, I could just imagine some winter film sequence playing. XD So basically, you composed it yourself, but didn't play it all that rapidly yourself? :P Well, the composition is splendid!
    Ha, ha!
You have? I'd love it if you posted it here: I can't get onto YuTube very often, and then only to certain places. ;)

  4. Dalu,

LOL, how'd you know I didn't play it that fast? XD Anyway, what I did was this: I sat down at my electric piano, which was attached to my computer via MIDI cable. Then I put my fingers on the piano keys. Then I just started playing and hit any random chord or note that came into my head that seemed to fit. Then I went over to the computer, took out like two notes that didn't fit at all, sped the tempo up just a TAD bit, copied the end and had it repeat in a different key, and named it Winding Winter March. The whole thing probably took an hour. :D Anyway, thanks again!

LOL, I know what you mean! YouTube has it's problems. :P Hopefully I'll have more songs up here soon; due to the speed of upload, it can take a while, but I think I have a few that might be posted here whenever I have time. :)

  5. Ben,
WHAT??? You told me you weren't "that good" at piano, that you just started! Fibber! :P LOL That's really good: I thought you actually wrote all the notes, instead of picked them out rapidly on the keyboard. Bravo! :D :D

Yeah, it's disappointing, too, because there is still a lot of good stuff on YouTube. Oh, goody! I can't wait! :D

  6. Dalu,
Well, I'm not that good at it. :) I can't really read music… LOL, and I have a hard time writing all the notes for a song down; if I had done the entire thing that way it would'a taken a lot more then an hour, LOL. :P

  7. Ben,

I'm the same way: I can't really read more than the first octave in C-Major, though I can read a couple notes either way. My piano has a note screen on it, so I cheat a great deal when playing songs whose notes I have no knowledge of. :P LOL
I would have never known you couldn't read music! :P

  8. This is my favorite of your pieces, Coyle! Love the title 'cause it fits very nicely with the feel of the music. For some reason it just reminds me of winter, even if it wasn't called "Winding Winter March" =D Great work!
