Ugly Troll

Sorry about the weird shape to the left of his head in picture two; that was a glitch that I couldn't get rid of without sending the picture to another computer. So, I left it.
This whole drawing, starting from scratch, took close to half an hour, using Alchemy. :D

Logo Art

I made this logo a few years ago on Adobe Photoshop.

The Agony

This being lent, I've composed a few lines about the Agony in the Garden. Hope this isn't too serious for this blog.

The Agony

Alone He faced them all,
All the crimes of the world.
Beginning with the fall,
He saw all sins unfurled.

Bleeding bloody sweat,
Alone He knelt to weep.
He saw the price was set,
And the horror cut Him deep.

But upon His feet He rose.
"Not My will but Thine be done."
To the traitor's kiss He goes,
For man's salvation must be won.

Low Poly Character, With Textures!

So here it is! He has a textures! :D
      Enjoy! ;)

Architecture Sketches

I dug these out of a folder on my old computer, and though most of you have already seen them, here they are again. :) They pretty much explain themselves, except of course for the little mosquitos and the huge mountain of eyeballs in picture one and two. :P LOL, the eyeballs are houses, and the little flying things are people with wings catching the breeze. However, I'm not going to explain anymore because it's a long story. :D

Glorified Stick Figure

I started with a stick-figure to get the shape of the person right, and then just made them slightly less stick-like. :)

Low Poly Character

A simple low poly character that I'm working on, not much.

Starburst

10,000 particles going crazy in Blender. :D
      Hope you enjoy! ;)

Dusty Ol' Render

This is my first Blend, and probably the last for a while. :D
I actually made this along time ago, using Blender 2.5 Beta. Huh.

Mr. Tumnus

This is my artistic rendition of Mr. Tumnus, done with Alchemy. :D (Of course, the first image was the first save, and then I went through a few versions until I made the second image.)

Dock Scene

Finally figured out how to texture a board. :D But yeah, hope you enjoy!

Okay so everything is really there and I actually modeled it, the waves and the mountains, the sky background is just a sky texture imported as a plane.

My older brother told me I should say all the stuff about the modeling and stuff, because he thought I just stuck the bridge on the ocean, hope that clears things up lol.

Some OLD Stuff.

Just some stuff that I made this summer that I thought I might post. :) Enjoy!

Spider

I drew this with Alchemy, a free open-source program that uses vector graphics and an arsenal of awesome tools.  It also has no undo-button. :D It does, however, have a setting that will automatically save for you, so you never have to worry about loosing the original copy of something and can look at how the work progressed through the drawing process. The first of these two pictures is the first save file; I scribbled it in around two minutes, and from there produced the second image in something close to half an hour. Alchemy never fails to amaze me at the speed I am able to make something in, even if it comes out looking sloppy; however, that is the point of the program, as it's designed to make concept art, and thus the work isn't really supposed to look extremely polished.

Concept

Zelda

I'm not sure how many of you remember my Zelda drawings on my last blog, but here's another I drew. It's Zelda from the Skyward Sword. :D Looking at it now, I see how much I messed it up, but that's what I get for only spending 5-6 hours on it. (Plus I pressed too hard with my pencil so I couldn't erase.) :D
Once again, I'm blaming my scanner for the weird contrast and lighting. :D

Figure Test

I sketched the first one late one night, and then I drew the second one over a long-ish period of time. Somehow they turned out to look kinda different, LOL. :D (I'll probably post these with higher contrast sometime later to define the lines more. My scanner made the second look rather gray and the first a little too sharp. LOL. Whatever.)

Lent

Greetings to all my non-existent fans!

I'm giving up computer for lent and so from Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22) until Easter Sunday (April 8) I will only be able to post once a week: Sundays, and even then I may not post, so don't expect to hear much from me for a while!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a good Lent!

Best Regards,

James Declan Hench

Leaves

It is February.
        The snow
               Melts
And the dry
       August leaves
              Blow
Aimlessly around
               Through the streets
                          and the grass.
   They wait
for the next of their
                     Kind
              To blossom
And take their place,
Never knowing
                When
             To give up.

The Last

The last of the worst
Is when the fire will thirst,
And when the sorrow will mercifully cry.

The beautiful burst
When the flowers are cursed
Is when the burrowing heroes will die.

Journal

              A girl
              writes
her own story.
             She adds
       the date
            to
       the page,
but it changes
              when
             she looks away.

Someone wishes
                to
              gain
     her attention.

             Thinking
              she made
a mistake,
           she erases,
   and rewrites
          the
         marker
      of the day.

        But
        it turns
          and
changes
        once again.

     No matter
     how hard
she tries,
             her pen
       will
    not
forget.

Glasses

My good friend James Hench suggested that I post these renders over here since originally I just had them on my other blog. Enjoy! :D

Elevator

By James Declan Hench

Samuel Swartwood entered the elevator, smiling. It had been a good day. The elevator was fairly crowded, but even this, which normally would have bothered him, couldn’t dampen Sam’s spirits. He squished himself against the wall, doing his best to ignore the others on the elevator, the last people of the day to leave. This proved difficult since he found himself standing next to a very fat man in a tuxedo, eating a banana loudly, who smelled strongly of wet dog and was not very ignorable. Sam tried to close off his nostrils as best he could and think about this morning’s events. He happily recalled the meeting with his employer in which he had been offered a raise. He was also just now on his way to buy a car he had been saving up for, and these thoughts were responsible for his good mood. The elevator dinged as it zipped passed level after level.

The Comic Relief

"Outrageous! Can you believe it? He offered me the kingdom for this pocket watch! Naturally I refused."
That's just the quote that popped into my mind after drawing this one. He was supposed to look comic but he ended up looking more like another villain. Also his right hand is too big. But I guess I didn't do a pencil sketch first with this one so perhaps you can forgive me a few mistakes.
Drawn with permanent marker. Click to enlarge.

Cheesy Lego battle march

 Long live lego.

The Villain

In this picture, dedicated to Charles Dickens on his birthday, 2012, a late 1800's villain tips his hat to someone outside the picture, perhaps a prospective victim of his schemes. Permanent marker. Click to enlarge.

Wishing

If time were open like a door,
And if the shattered wall became the floor,
Then when the trees laid-low the ground,
Your ears would die, as would the sound.

There in front of you is a golden door;
Stay away, or you'll ask for more.
Keep your feet up off the ground
Or stay away and never be found.

The only way to keep you secure
Is to find a way; to find a cure
For laughter in a solemn place:
You're locked outside of time and space.

I would take you back if I knew you'd live;
You'll never know how much I'd give
to see you cry, to see you weep.
For as I think of you and cannot sleep,

The things I had, I wish I'd known
Were all you had you could have shown.
The sadness that you had inside
Was nothing that we couldn't hide.

Lego photo

I had taken this photo about a year ago, and now I have added some effects to it.

Dishes.

I'm not very good with descriptions. Made with blender 3D.

Introducing Coyle H. McTroon

Interviewer:  "So, Mr. McTroon, how far back does your blogger experience go?"

Coyle:  "I started blogging in August of 2011--not even a year ago now."

Interviewer:  "What have you been blogging about? I hear you do art."

Coyle:  "Yeah--I've done lots of sketches and published them online, but I've also done some short story and poetry writing."

Interviewer:  "Oh! I guess I'd never heard of your poems. What are they about?"

Coyle:  "I don't know. Just about anything."

Interviewer:  "Oh, okay. What's your favorite kind of art--what do you draw most often?"

Coyle:  "Some of my favorite things to draw are character sketches. Abstract is great, as well. I also doodle for hours on my math homework."

Interviewer:  "What are your other interests? Do you like sports, or music, or something like that?"

Coyle:  "I like music a lot--I've written some pieces using computer software, and I've also written some for piano, though mostly I do impromptu style for piano. Digital music is my favorite."

Interviewer: "I once heard that you wrote a book--what ever came of that?"

Coyle: "Nothing really; I completed the first draft and never got around to editing it because I didn't like it enough. I am thinking about finishing a book (or maybe just a really long blog story). I'm only about fifteen pages into it so far. If I'm able to finish its first draft it should appear online somewhere eventually."

Interviewer:  "Can we expect pretty frequent posts from you on this new blog?"

Coyle:  "Maybe. For a while I'll still be working on my older blog until I finish what I was doing with it. After that I'll probably post in floods and droughts, so to speak. I usually work steadily behind the scenes but have a hard time remembering to post my work online."

Interviewer:  "Huh. What's your favorite food?"

Coyle:  "That's a weird question for a blog interview. I'm not going to answer that."

Interviewer:  "Sure then. How can we get to your old blog?"

Coyle:  "Click Here. Just click the link and you'll be there."

Interviewer:  "Oh. Wow! That was easier than I thought."

Coyle:  "Welcome to the world of technology."

Interviewer:  "I feel like this is more of a dialogue than an interview."

Coyle:  "Yes sir, it does seem that way. Let's finish our talk, then. I've said everything I feel like saying."

Interviewer:  "K. Bye now."

Coyle:  "Signing off."

Introducing Cristopher A. Krome

Welcome! I like to build Legos, read books, and watch movies. Mario Cart also is very fun for me. I will post photography of my Legos, and sometimes some writing.

-Cristopher Krome

Introducing James D. Hench

Welcome to our blog, Council of The Pac-Men!
Interviewer: I'd like to introduce James Hench. To help you get to know him, I'll be asking him some questions.
    Q. What is your role on the blog?
    A. I'm a contributor.
    Q. What will you be contributing?
    A. I intend to write, mostly. I'll do both fiction and non-fiction, all different types. I may do a little visual art also.
    Q. What are some of your interests? What are some topics we can expect you to write about?
    A. I have a lot of interests: writing (obviously), reading, chess, fly-fishing, playing piano, playing computer games, ideas, logic, and lots of other things. In my non-fiction I'll discuss some of my interests listed above, as well as my observations on the world around me. As far as fiction goes, I hope to do some short story writing and maybe some poetry. Basically, a lot of variety.
    Q. How did this blog come into existence, and how did you become a contributor?
    A. My friend, Todd, had the idea. He invited me to be a contributor.
    Q. How often will you be posting?
    A. I don't know for sure--as often as I come up with something publishable. Hopefully something every couple weeks, at least. Between the four of us there should always be something new!

Interviewer: Thanks for your time, James. We look forward to your posts!
James: No problem. I look forward to posting!

Introducing Todd Forbes McCarnwath

I like 8-bit music. I play minecraft. I love open-source software like blender 3D. I originally came up with the idea for this blog. I like and make art. I have some experience with composing tunes in GarageBand, but I leave most of the song writing to my colleague Coyle McTroon.

My own blog about CG art is: http://24hourrenders.blogspot.com/
