Zelda

I'm not sure how many of you remember my Zelda drawings on my last blog, but here's another I drew. It's Zelda from the Skyward Sword. :D Looking at it now, I see how much I messed it up, but that's what I get for only spending 5-6 hours on it. (Plus I pressed too hard with my pencil so I couldn't erase.) :D
Once again, I'm blaming my scanner for the weird contrast and lighting. :D

  1. Ha! Bad job indeed! I think it's great! The only thing I see is probably that the width of her right shoulder is too starkly contrasted with the lack thereof of her left. I think if they were the same, the picture would be perfecto! ;D

  2. Dalu,
LOL, thanks! I'm glad to hear you don't think it's too bad. :D Totally good point! I had an impossible time with that whole side--not just the shoulder. I had to invent most of it and actually most of her arm (like, by the elbow) because the original art was part of a larger poster-background; it was sort of abstractly legendary and there were all these shapes short of floating around, almost like runes, and between them and the logo, a good portion of Zelda was blocked out. That's also why she doesn't have legs. :D LOL
    Thanks for your input! :D

  3. Ben,
Well, I don't blame you! You certainly didn't have much to work with, and I don't think you could have done anything else, unless you could get a sister to pose for you. :P LOL When I have trouble with drawing a fellow, I usually take a picture of my brother for inspiration. It's not a bad idea, really, if your sibling looks a bit like who you want to sketch. :P But I'm straying from my point...again.
What was my point, anyway? :P LOL! XD

    1. Dalu,
LOL, I actually have had my sister pose once before, but just to figure out how a hand would look opened up. :P
I guess I could do that; it's just that if I was to take a photo I'd either have to look at a little camera screen for reference, or I'd print it out, which would use a considerable amount of printer ink if I did them large enough for detail every time. :P :D
LOL, seemed to me that you kept your point all the way through; however, maybe it just wasn't the point you thought you were using. :P

  4. I have to agree with Dalu on this one. The angle is such that more of her shoulder should be visible but, you already know that now. Anyway, cool drawing, keep going, and I look forward to seeing more art from you next Sunday!

    Best Regards,
    James

  5. James,
Yeah. :) I guess you can blame the background I copied it from for leaving the shoulder out. :P LOL
Thanks for commenting, by the way! I totally forgot that you were going to be on today. :P Talk to you more next Sunday! :D
